Pirelli's return to Formula 1 in 1981 signalled a fresh beginning. The 1980s burst into life with turbo engines and iconic rivalries between Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna and Nelson Piquet. Television turned F1 into a global spectacle. Battles raged on track, and in 1991 a new figure emerged: Michael Schumacher.
